Tinsel-lily
Blue Tinsel-lily - Calectasia intermedia

Tt

The Blue Tinsel-lily takes its name from the shiny blue flowers which really do have the look and feel of tinsel. But, apart from the six-pointed, star-shaped flowers, there is very little that is lily-like about the plant.

When you see a Blue Tinsel-lily in the bush it looks like a small shrub with woody branches and tiny, narrow leaves. Without its flowers most people would probably think that the Tinsel-lily was a small paper-bark or tea-tree, it certainly doesn't look like what most people think of as a lily. Its closest relatives in the plant world are the equally unusual grass-trees.
