Bandy Bandy
Bandy Bandy - Vermicella annulata

Bb

The Bandy Bandy is a small snake that lives in the dry, sandy country of Australia. It's not hard to guess where its name came from.

It is usually active only at night (it's nocturnal) and burrows under the sand during the day. When it does come out to hunt it is only looking for one sort of prey, another type of burrowing snake called a blind snake (so-called because of its tiny eyes). Even though the Bandy Bandy is not much bigger than its prey it is a fierce hunter with enough venom in its fangs to overpower the non-venomous blind snakes it hunts.

It is unlikely that the casual visitor will notice a Bandy Bandy as they are very secretive and despite being venomous they are not considered to be dangerous to people.
