Jacky Lizard
Tree Dragon - Amphibolurus muricatus

Jj

The Jacky Lizard is now known by the much more formal sounding name of Tree Dragon. The prime reason for this is probably that it has now been discovered that there is more than one species of lizard which was covered by the name.

The key features of the Jacky Lizard are its bright, perky posture, its watchful eyes, and an ability to put on a blinding burst of speed (often with front feet hardly touching the ground) if it considers that danger is near. It can also put these skills to good use when stalking and catching its prey - mostly insects, spiders and other small animals.

Another part of the Jacky Lizard's bag of tricks is its patterned colouring which allows it to blend in with the background.

Jacky Lizards, like other dragons and unlike many other lizards, do not lose their tails when they are caught.
