Tiger Snake
Tiger Snake - Notechis scutatus

Tt

There are many myths about Australian snakes and almost everybody seems to have a story of enormous snakes (much bigger than they really ever are) which attack people for no reason. The truth is that most snakes will not attack humans unless they have been cornered or trodden on or grabbed.

While bearing all that in mind it is worth remembering that the Tiger Snake is one of the most poisonous snakes in the world and a very dangerous animal indeed if it is encountered in the bush. If you see one don't try to touch it or kill it, just keep out of its way and watch from a distance. It will almost always move away quickly but if it doesn't, just leave it alone.

The Tiger Snake is designed to kill frogs, not people, and its venom is very poisonous so that the frogs it catches will quickly stop struggling and not get away.
