| General Appearance: A small tree to 12 m tall with a broad, spreading crown. Bark fibrous and dark-brown on trunk, smooth and dark to pale olive-green on branches. Leaves: Adult: alternate, petiolate, ovate to broad-lanceolate, 6-11 x 2.5-6cm, dull green, tip rounded but with a short point. Juvenile: alternate, petiolate, broad-ovate, often indented at apex, to 10 x 8cm, dull grey-green. Buds: In leaf axils, 7 per cluster (sometimes fewer by abortion), diamond-shaped; pedicel distinct; operculum conical (or rarely dome-shaped), with a slightly extended tip. Fruit: Funnel-shaped, 5 x 5 mm; disc slightly convex (rarely flat), at or just below rim level; valves 3-4, narrowly pointed, slightly exserted.
