Conditions of Use

Viridans will provide images only for printed publications and web sites.  We will not supply images for use in CD-Rom products or databases.  We will not supply images for resale.

Images provided by Viridans will carry instructions and caveats to protect the copyright owners and us.  These will take the general form laid out below but may be amended for individual projects.

Conditions of Use for Small Images for Web Site:

These photographs are provided in JPEG format at a size of 300 x 225 or 400 x 300 pixels and each will have © Photographer on the lower right-hand corner.  This copyright must not be removed.

The images must be displayed exactly as they are, and not digitally manipulated.

The images may not be resized or compressed below a level which will obscure the copyright text (usually no less than 300 x 225)

You must proclaim the copyright to all images in the web site and state that visitors to the site may not copy the images for use in other publications or sites.

We will only provide the photographs in this form and will not send originals.

The images remain the property of the copyright holders and they may not be passed on to a third party for reasons other than the production of the specified web site.

Rights to the image use are not transferable.  If the web site ceases to exist the images may not be used again, even if the user creates a new site.

The right to the use of the photographs may be withdrawn (even after sale) if the web site has components which are pornographic, racist or violent in nature.

Conditions of Use of Medium Images

These photographs are provided in JPEG format at a size of 800 x 600 pixels.   This means that the images could be reproduced at a size of 68 x 51 mm (2.6"x 2") if they are printed at 300 dpi or 81 x 61 mm (3.2" x 2.4") if printed at 250 dpi. 

We will only provide the photographs in this form and will not send originals.

The images may be used only for a single print run of the publication you intend and only for a limited number of copies (e.g. 3000 or so)

The images remain the property of the copyright holders and they may not be passed on to a third party for reasons other than the production of the specified publication.

Viridans (or the other photographers) should be acknowledged beside each photograph in the publication.

Conditions of Use of Intermediate Images

These photographs are provided in JPEG format at a size of 1600 x 1200 pixels.   This means that the images could be reproduced at a size of 136 x 102 mm (5.2"x 4") if they are printed at 300 dpi or 162 x 122 mm (6.4" x 4.8") if printed at 250 dpi. 

We will only provide the photographs in this form and will not send originals.

The images may be used only for a single print run of the publication you intend and only for a limited number of copies (e.g. 3000 or so)

The images remain the property of the copyright holders and they may not be passed on to a third party for reasons other than the production of the specified publication.

Viridans (or the other photographers) should be acknowledged beside each photograph in the publication.

Conditions of Use of Large Images

These photographs are provided in digital form only, we do not supply originals.

The images may be used only for a single print run of the publication you intend and only for a limited number of copies (e.g. 3000 or so)

The images may be cut and pasted and colours may be enhanced but digital alteration of the image which obscures the original is not permitted.

The images remain the property of the copyright holders and they may not be passed on to a third party for reasons other than the production of the specified publication.

Viridans (or the other photographers) should be acknowledged beside each photograph in the publication (or inside the cover if the image is being used as a cover).

Viridans reserves the right to refuse access to any or all images in its collection if it so chooses.
